Aaron's nuzlocke: emerald ISSUE # 3 by ChaosMonkeyATG Aaron's nuzlocke: emerald ISSUE # 3 by ChaosMonkeyATG

LAST: [link]

IMPORTANT NOTE: Iv'e decided to cut out the point where you return to Birch's lab with May to get the pokedex and pokeballs for the sake of pacing and the fact that the scene was entirely unneeded. Our hero will still be going to route 103, though. Iv'e also lucked out by not coming by any encounters on both 101 and 103 prior to getting the pokeballs.

I'm a bit late again, sorry. Iv'e changed a few things around this time. Iv'e doubled the line width, halved the panel line size, and shrunk the gutter space. Hopefully this will make for better reading. Iv'e also started adding in the dialogue to the rough sketch I do prior to drawing the actual comic. I have to say that it really helps in fully fleshing out how a scene will look and how I can change things around to give maximum impact before I start committing to tighter drawings.

Also: Bonus points for anybody who can tell what game Snow is playing.

Oh, spoke too soon. This looks much better! Also, compliments for doing backgrounds with thinner lines. Ads a nice effect. :)

I'll still be experimenting with line widths as the comic continues. Iv'e learned quite a bit about lineart and the fundamental structure of it from drawing in black and white. I hope to be able to transfer that knowledge once the black run starts back up :D

Oh gosh, you totally had me fooled, i thought you were gonna catch Wurmple x3
But Brandy seems petty awesome, I love her description and i look forward to seeing more of her:3

Lines look a lot better on this one, but probably due to huge resizing, panel lines became uneven. What canvas size to you start with anyway?

I start with a simple 9 by 11 size at 600 pixels per inch and I increase the size by another eleven inches if need be and I round out whatever's left at the end of that particular issue. I'm not sure what you mean about the panel lines. Are you referring to the panels where the wurmple is running? If so, that was deliberate. When you have actionny panels like that, the different sizes can help to make the scene look more dynamic and flowing.

No, I mean that some lines turn grey upon resizing, like here --> [link]
It's not a big deal though, i just though I'd bring it up since you said you're experimenting with lining.

Ah I see what you mean. They were drawn on a five pixel width. But I'll experiment with a seven or eight pixel width in the next issue.
